Turkey Trot 2010

Well, you asked for feedback. I can tell you from myself and a majority opinion with other athletes during the race and at the finish this was by far the most poorly organized event I have competed in during my over 10 year race history.

Some specific issues
1. Pre race
- I don't know how many times the route was changed, but it was way too many with short notice

- the start time of the race also changed several times after I registered which required a complete change of plans

2. Race am
- thank goodness my friend picked up our packets the day before. Packet pick up, registration, etc was not delineated well (where to go, etc) and you had way too many people lined up for multiple things in a very small space

- the chips and bands were disgusting. Please throw out or sanitize those chip holders. Most athletes have their own, or provide us with a disposable one.

- parking was terrible. There was no direction as to where to park and there was inadequate parking

3.The race
- the distances were not accurate for the 10K and half marathon, too short. This was critical as we had all trained for a specific distance and were very frustrated by your inability to provide an accurate course. The inaccuracies were confirmed on several persons Garmins.

- the mile markers were way off

- the race was not adequately marked (how about some spray paint next time?)

- there were very few volunteers and those that were there were not adequately trained. They were not handing out water, you had to stop running and get your own off the table. The water cups were only filled about 1/4 full. There were no areas / cans to toss empty cups.

In addition to the water problems the volunteers did not know the route. I asked volunteers on two occasions which way to go and they were uncertain. Myself and another runner asked two volunteers if we were on course for the half or 10K and they did not know. Because of this the guy doing the half went an extra 2 miles.

I do hope you read the feedback and make some changes. I have done the southpark turkey trot the last three years and did enjoy a smaller race closer to home. If you make some changes myself and my large training group might consider giving this event another try next year
